Milton Vincent’s A Gospel Primer for Christians: Learning to See the Glories of God’s Love
aims at shaking Christians out of a spiritual lethargy regarding the Gospel. The Gospel, God’s good news of redemption through Jesus, should permeate every detail of the believer’s life. All to often, however, we as believers fail to recognize and fully appreciate the Gospel in a way that continues to deeply affect our lives. Milton testifies within the book that he grew up in the conservative church scene. His church experience was one that emphasized God’s I’m-gonna-get-you-if-you-mess-up mentality. After years of struggling with this kind of thinking, he explains how God used His Word to liberate His thinking regarding God’s grace. God’s wrath toward sin was placed all on Christ, period. Once we as believers grasp this central glorious truth, our entire appreciation and attitude toward the Gospel and life will dramatically change. A Gospel Primer for Christians: Learning to See the Glories of God’s Love
is a fantastic book that all Christians would do well to study. It’s just under 100 pages, so it’s not too large. However, the book is not really intended to be a quick read, but rather more of a devotional book. One other thing I really appreciated about this particular book is the heavy leaning on Scripture (it’s chalked full of awesome passages)! Pick up a copy and take your time pondering on the Gospel’s awesome truths and how they relate to your life now.
